Fried Scallop Plate

I live in South County, RI and when the urge for scallops presents itself, it means some windshield time and a short RI journey to the Atlantic Grille. They are fried to a beautifil light golden brown and very moist. They are so tasty I cut each one in half to give me more pieces to bite into. Each visit to the Grille is so satisfying.

1 Egg, choice of bacon or sausage, homefries and toast

The superlative culinary prowess of this long-established Middletown beach eatery is utterly unequivocal and has been for over 3 decades. And it should be noted that, almost, every item is made from scratch and by hand (Let me add that there are ten or so establishments in "Downtown" Middletown that serve a plethora of food and drinks, and, for the most part, these establishments operate within a spherical "Sports Bar" methodology. Which, unfortunately, is expected) And as you might have ascertained, yes; that before mentioned blueprint is utterly and completely overplayed here in Middletown. Thankfully though, you will not find that at the Atlantic Grill. It is the shining exception to this "God-only-knows-why-cookie-cutter" outline everyone seems to over-utilize around here. Among the rather vast and generous amenities that the Atlantic Grill offers, there are of course, televisions with the Sports/News etc. on in all patron areas, like a sports bar; however nevertheless the "energy", "vibe" or if you prefer the elucidation, "ambiance" of the "Grill" (a commonly used colloquialism) is far less rambunctious than any other establishment in the area. First, and to me most importantly, they keep this place extraordinarily clean and sanitized at all hours that I've visited, which is well, pretty much all hours. Even the bottles of condiments have their caps and necks cleaned a couple times daily (or so I have seen). And not-for-nothing but I have never been seated at a "wobbly" table, and that means so very much to my O.C.D. Additionally, the temperature is always very comfortable, and humidity is kept thankfully low. Now, albeit Families, groups of colleagues, couples on their 1st or 100th dates, general vacationers and certainly singles (from the outgoing to the introverted) this is where you should be. The Staff members are courteous, friendly, efficient, thoughtful, professional, and amazingly fast; always moving with a sense of urgency giving you that V.I.P. feeling whilst dining we all deserve. The Grill has the absolute best hours around. Particularly for those of us that work early a.m. shifts. They are open a full hour and half BEFORE any other establishment around, which is so very appreciated on my off days and other early birds in the area. Their menu, while robust, diverse and always fresh, isn't a "phone book" sized monster that takes 47 minutes and an MBA from M.I.T. to fully understand and read. Thiers it is a "best of the best" of our local cuisine with all the bistro favorites. Thoroughly and thoughtfully compiled with the best culinary accompaniments for all offered dishes that are either included with or consciously placed nearby in the "add-on" column: showing two things; a sense of extreme professionalism and a sense of ownership in what they are providing. This, ladies, and gentlemen, is what you look for in the best food service establishments, albeit a rarity to find. I could spend hours speaking of the Grille, but the bottom line here folks; it is just a damn good place to eat. Not for nothing, The Atlantic Grill was just voted the #1 restaurant in Middletown. And considering the vast amount and the considerable caliber of eateries available here, well, that is all you need to know. ***(NOTE: New Englanders use possessive terminologies and/or colloquialisms often and with considerable and substantial gusto. Especially towards our favorite eateries) ***

Blueberry or Banana Pancakes

OMG best blueberry pancakes. Loaded, fluffy and real maple syrup and butter. Didn't even need the sausage but only made it more delicious. Sweet and salty. Perfect!

Seafood Fra Diavolo

Saying it was good is an understatement! We initally went for lunch, but the food was so tasy, the servuce friendly and the environment welcoming that we came back for dinner. Having had the lobster roll for lunch, I opted not to have the lobster for dinner, like the rest of my party. That said, I still wanted seafood but wanted something I've never had before and got the seafood Fra Diavolo to go. Upon returning to our room and digging into my meal, I was pleasantly surprised. Despite not being really hungry, I was so good I ate it all in one sitting. (Please note that it was enough for 2 sittings). I thoroughly enjoyed the food, hospitality and ambiance of the Atlantic grill. I plan to go back next time, I visit Rhode Island.

A.G. Grilled Chicken

We just had lunch at Atlantic Grill and it was excellent. Had the corned beef sandwich and the chicken sandwich with bacon. Both were excellent. Plenty of food. Great service. Great prices. We are at Fieldstones yesterday , and loved everything there also.. Both of these are worth going to. Easy free parking and great food and service. Now our go to places. Thanks
